Axon Expands VR Public Safety Training Team With Foundry 45 Acquisition

Axon (Nasdaq: AXON) has acquired virtual reality studio Foundry 45 in a push to transform public safety training with the use of immersive technology.

The acquired business will operate as part of Axon’s VR team that makes scenario-based simulator training tools designed to prepare law enforcement personnel for real-world situations, the company said Wednesday.

Foundry 45 launched in 2015 to offer VR and augmented reality-based corporate training services intended to help enterprise customers boost productivity and upskill their workforce.

Chris Chin, vice president of immersive technologies at Axon, said the addition of experienced enterprise VR specialists to the company will help expand its public safety training portfolio.

Morgan, Lewis & Bockius provided legal counsel to Axon on the deal.
