Vortex Optics to Produce Next-Gen Fire Controls Under $2.7B Army Follow-On OTA

Vortex Optics has received a potential $2.7 billion follow-on other transaction agreement from the U.S. Army to produce fire controls for next-generation weapons systems.

The company will also provide spare parts, repairs, accessories, engineering, contractor support and other services to other Department of Defense components and foreign military sales customers via the Next Generation Squad Weapons-Fire Control program.

The service said NGSW-FC is the planned fire control system for NGSW – Rifle and NGSW – Automatic Rifle programs within the close combat force and will replace the machine gun optic, close combat optic and rifle combat optic.

The service may procure up to 250,000 fire control systems over the next decade under the follow-on production OTA, according to a prototype project opportunity notice for the program.

Vortex Optics is a veteran-owned, family-owned business based in Barneveld, Wisconsin, and is focused on producing riflescopes, rangefinders, spotting scopes, monoculars, tripods, apparel and gear.
