ACR Group Looks to Expand PNT Portfolio With TRX Acquisition

ACR Group, a provider of satellite-based tracking, communications and location products and services, has acquired TRX Systems, a U.S. Army contractor for dismounted assured positioning, navigation and timing system.

David Knowles, CEO and president of ACR Group, said in a statement published Wednesday the TRX offerings will add to the company’s current assured PNT capabilities, which are needed by the defense and public safety sectors.

The portfolio now includes GPS-independent radio frequency and inertial location, multi-global navigation satellite systems support and multi-sensor fusion.

“TRX multi-sensor fusion products complement the extensive satellite communications and PNT portfolio within ACR Group,” said TRX Systems President Carol Politi.

She added that the company could benefit from ACR Group’s access to satellite technologies and broad customer base following the transaction.

As part of the deal, TRX will keep its management team, branding, facilities, sales and engineering expertise.

The developer will also retain its products including the TRX DAPNT System, which is set to replace the Army’s Defense Advanced GPS Receiver.
