Saab Books $105M Navy Contract for MK 9 Tracker Illuminator Replacements

Saab will develop and produce system replacements for a ship-based continuous wave target illuminator under a potential $104.8 million firm-fixed-price, cost-plus-fixed fee and cost-only contract from the U.S. Navy.

The contract for the MK 9 Tracker Illuminator System replacements has a $32.2 million base amount and a two-year initial performance period, and includes options that, if exercised, will bring it to its total value and extend work through March 2030, the Department of Defense said Tuesday.

Saab will conduct most of the development and production effort at its location in East Syracuse, New York.

The Navy will obligate over $9 million in fiscal 2020 and 2021 research, development, test and evaluation funding at the time of award. Naval Sea Systems Command competitively procured the contract and selected Saab out of two bidders.
