General Dynamics Unit Receives $136M Contract to Support Navy Help Desk Consolidation

General Dynamics‘ (NYSE: GD) information technology business has secured a potential four-year, $136.5 million contract to consolidate IT help desks for the U.S. Navy.

The company will build a knowledge-based platform that uses artificial intelligence, natural language processing, machine learning and analytics technology to manage the branch’s consolidated service desk, the Department of Defense said Thursday.

The Navy placed its first task order under the indefinitely-delivery/indefinite-quantity contract to cover the agreement’s minimum guarantee of $5,000.

Naval Information Warfare Systems Command is the contracting activity and did not conduct a competitive acquisition process because the contract follows a prototype effort under an other transaction agreement that took effect in 2019, DOD noted.

GDIT will perform work primarily in Bossier City and New Orleans, Louisiana, with an expected completion date of August 2025.

The contract has one base year and three one-year options.
