Elbit Systems Buys BAE’s Rokar Subsidiary

Haifa, Israel-based defense company Elbit Systems (Nasdaq: ESLT) has acquired a BAE Systems subsidiary that produces GPS receivers and guidance systems for military use.

Elbit said Thursday it bought BAE Systems Rokar International for approximately $31 million in cash from the British defense contractor’s U.S. arm.

Rokar’s Satellite Navigation Immune Receiver products are designed to integrate with aerial, ground and naval platforms as an anti-jamming or additional GPS technology. The Jerusalem-based GPS provider’s other offerings can work with artillery shells and rockets.

Extra, one of Elbit’s artillery rockets, has an accuracy of 10m CEP and is capable of hitting a target at a range of 19 to 93 miles, according to the company.
