Steve LaFleche, a more than 33-year IBM (NYSE: IBM) veteran, has been promoted to general manager for the company’s U.S. public and federal market.
He will oversee a public sector business spanning defense and intelligence, government and education and health care and life sciences industries and will help U.S. federal, local and state government clients advance their digital transformation efforts, IBM said Wednesday.
He succeeds Jay Bellissimo, who joined cloud communications company Vonage (Nasdaq: VG) as chief operating officer in January.
“The modernization and move to hybrid cloud and the adoption of AI will be the challenges — and the opportunities — for government IT leaders in this decade,” said LaFleche.
He added he looks forward to working with his team at IBM to deliver innovation to public sector and federal clients.
LaFleche most recently served as managing director for the state of New York at IBM. He also served as vice president of the company’s U.S. public sector for North America.
