IBM Veteran Jim Colson Named Cubic VP, CTO

Jim Colson

Jim Colson, a two-decade IBM (NYSE: IBM) veteran, has joined Cubic (NYSE: CUB) as vice president and chief technology officer.

Colson will report to Kevin Eagan, senior VP and chief digital officer at Cubic, and bring his experience in artificial intelligence, machine learning, software as a service, cloud and internet of things to help advance the company’s emerging business models and tech platforms, the company said Tuesday.

“Jim’s experience, capabilities and industry-leading technical innovation makes him a strong leader for our team as we transform the Cubic portfolio within and beyond our Goal 2020 strategic plan,” Eagan said.

Colson previously served as an IBM Fellow, VP and worldwide CTO for the technology firm’s Watson Customer Engagement portfolio. He started his career at IBM as a senior technical staff member and helped establish an IoT software business within the firm.

He offered support to several cloud, IoT, infrastructure and SaaS companies as a strategy and portfolio transformation consultant prior to his move to Cubic and continues to serve as an adviser to several startups.
