Satellite Industry Vet Samer Halawi to Join Intelsat as Chief Commercial Officer

Samer Halawi

Samer Halawi, formerly chief commercial officer of satellite communications firm OneWeb, has been appointed to a similar role at Intelsat (NYSE:I) in a move slated to take effect Jan. 9.

Intelsat said Wednesday Halawi’s appointment comes as the company aims to accelerate the commercialization of its EpicNG satellite fleet and the launch of new managed service offerings.

The more than 20-year industry veteran will oversee Intelsat’s global commercial operations that include government, broadband, mobility and media businesses, as well as the sales and marketing departments.

He will also lead Intelsat’s coordination with key business partners, leading distributors and value-added resellers in different sectors.

His industry career also includes time as CEO of Thuraya Telecommunications Company; chief strategy and business development officer at INTIGRAL; and vice president of strategic corporate development at Inmarsat.
