Orbital ATK Gets Partial FCC Clearance for In-Orbit Servicing of Intelsat Satellite


TYSONS CORNER, VA, Dec. 14, 2017 — A subsidiary of Orbital ATK (NYSE: OA) has received clearance to deploy its Mission Extension Vehicle-1 spacecraft to perform some in-orbit servicing operations on an Intelsat satellite, ExecutiveBiz reported Wednesday.

SpaceNews reported Tuesday the Federal Communications Commission approved the first part of Space Logistics‘ request to service Intelsat-901 in a graveyard orbit, specifically for MEV-1 to rendezvous and dock with the satellite as well as conduct proximity operations.
