October 9th Morning Report: GovCon Index and Indices End First Week of October Positive


As we ended the first week in October the Executive Mosaic GovCon Index (GCI) continued for its sixth consecutive day of gains, to close up 0.032 percent for the day and up 0.67 percent from the monthly open.

The markets closed mixed with the S&P500 down 0.11 percent to 2,549.33, while the DJIA also moved down closing at 22,773.67 off 0.01 percent, and the NASDAQ Composite with its ninth consecutive day of gains ended up 0.07 percent at 6,590.18. From Octobers open the S&P500 gained 27 points or 1.07 percent, the DJIA is up 320 points or 1.43 percent, and the NASDAQ advanced 80 points or 1.23 percent.

WTI crude oil on the NY Mercantile Exchange turned down to drop below the $50 to close at $49.32 per barrel, down 2.89 percent.
