BAE Secures $73M Option on Air Force Minuteman III Weapon Support Contract

BAE Systems‘ U.S. arm has received a one-year, $72.6 million contract option to help the U.S. Air Force integrate the service branch’s Minuteman III intercontinental ballistic missile system.

The company will provide systems engineering, technical assistance support, training and development services for the weapon system, the Defense Department said Wednesday.

Minuteman III missiles are part of the nuclear triad alongside Air Force bombers as well as U.S. Navy submarine-launched ballistic missiles.

DoD noted the Air Force Nuclear Weapons Center will obligate $23.6 million in fiscal 2017 research, development, test and evaluation funds along with operations and maintenance funds at the time of modification award.

Contract work will occur at the Hill Air Force Base in Utah through July 31, 2018.
