David Funk Named General Counsel, Corporate Secretary of Hitachi Data Systems’ Federal Arm

David Funk

David Funk, former general counsel and director of contracts at information technology services contractor Govplace, has joined Hitachi Data Systems‘ federal government business as general counsel and corporate secretary.

HDS said Wednesday Funk will report directly to President and CEO David Turner and be responsible for the unit’s legal, contractual and industrial security compliance functions.

He succeeds Monica DeNeale, who transitioned to the roles of vice president and general counsel for the Americas at HDS.

“David brings a wealth of legal expertise across multiple facets of corporate law and government contracting to HDS Federal,” said Turner.

Funk previously oversaw the management and resolution of legal, ethics and compliance matters at Govplace.

Prior to Govplace, he held various positions in the public sector such as attorney adviser for the Department of Homeland Security; senior adviser at the State Department; assistant counsel at the Department of the Navy‘s Office of General Counsel; and signals intelligence officer at the U.S. Marine Corps.
