Serco Group has secured a potential 10-year, $759.3 million contract from England’s Barts Health NHS Trust to carry out facility management services.Serco said Thursday the contract covers cleaning and domestic services; linen and laundry; patient catering; portering; car parking; reception and helpdesk; and other non-clinical management and support services at all Barts Health sites.
The company will also deliver its Touchpoint cleaning system; on-site 24/7 multi-channel helpdesk service; electronic bedside meal ordering; and the Computer-Aided Facilities Management Platform for staff self-service portering.
The contract works to consolidate services that were previously provided by different suppliers and 1, 200 permanent staff from current service providers will be transferred to Serco.
The company will begin to provide services at Whipps Cross University Hospital and Mile End Hospital in December 2016 followed by St. Bartholomew’s Hospital and the Royal London Hospital in April 2017 and Newham University Hospital and Newham Gateway in July 2017.
Serco noted the contract has a seven-year base period with an option for a three-year extension.
Barts Health is England’s largest NHS Trust and its hospitals provide clinical services to citizens in East London.
