Orbital ATK, NASA Reschedule Launch of Hurricane-Monitoring Satellite System on Dec. 14

TYSONS CORNER, VA, Dec. 13, 2016 — The scheduled launch of a NASA hurricane-monitoring satellite system aboard an Orbital ATK (NYSE: OA) Pegasus rocket has been postponed to Dec. 14 due to an issue in the Stargazer L-1011 carrier plane, ExecutiveBiz reported Tuesday.

The publication previously reported Monday the space agency’s Cyclone Global Navigation Satellite System mission was set to launch Monday from Cape Canaveral to perform weather research.

CYGNSS is designed to study the inner core of storms to help scientists and meteorologists understand and predict hurricane behavior, Orbital ATK said Sunday.
