The U.S. Navy has exercised a $166.3 million contract optionÂ forÂ L-3 CommunicationsÂ (NYSE: LLL) to performÂ maintenance and logisticsÂ work on approximatelyÂ 200 T-45 GoshawkÂ training jets.
L-3’sÂ Vertex AerospaceÂ subsidiary will continue to provideÂ sustaining engineering, supply and government property management and related parts and materials procurement services toÂ support an estimated 320 aircraft launches a day at various naval air stations, the Defense Department said Monday.
Work will occur atÂ Naval Air StationÂ Meridian in Mississippi, NAS Kingsville in Texas and NAS Pensacola in Florida and NAS Patuxent River in Maryland through September 2017.
The military branchÂ willÂ obligate fundsÂ with each order, according to DoD.
T-45 is designedÂ toÂ facilitateÂ jet carrier aviation and tactical strike mission pilot training programs of the Navy and the U.S. Marine Corps.
