HID Global to Update US Green Cards, EADs Under $88M Contract


HID GlobalHID Global has secured a five-year, $88.3 million contract to redesign and supply the U.S. government-issued Permanent Resident Cards and produce Employment Authorization Documents with radio-frequency identification technology.

The company said Tuesday the contract includes the continued manufacture, delivery and storage of as many as 34 million electronic identification cards issued as PRCs or Green Cards.

“We are proud of our long-standing relationship with the U.S. government and are committed to delivering a new generation of the U.S. Green Card along with new high-security employment documents for them in the years to come, ” said Rob Haslam, vice president of government ID solutions at HID Global.

He added that the company has provided four consecutive generations of the Green Card.

HID Global will also upgrade the EADs to feature RFID and fraud protection technology.
