Huntington Ingalls to Help US Navy Maintain USS Columbus

USS ColumbusHuntington Ingalls Industries has been awarded a potential $288, 642, 249 contract to assist the U.S. Navy in maintaining and upgrading the USS Columbus submarine.

The company will perform modernization and engineering works on the submarine as part of the modernization efforts, Defense Department said Friday.

Huntington Ingalls will carry out the tasks in Newport News, Virginia, through May 2019.

The Naval Sea Systems Command received two bids for the contract.
