Cardinal Health, Owens and Minor Get $1.2B DLA Tricare Medical Supplies Contract Modifications


medical health doctorThe Defense Logistics Agency has awarded $1.2 billion in contract modifications to Cardinal Health 200 and Owens and Minor Distribution to provide surgical and medical supplies for U.S. regions covered by the Tricare health program.

DLA awarded a contract worth $1 billion to Cardinal Health 200 and $240 million to Owens and Minor Distribution in exercise of the second of two 20-month options under the indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contract, the Defense Department said Thursday.

The companies will carry out work through April 2017 in 29 states across the U.S., including Illinois, Massachusetts and Virginia.

The Defense Logistics Agency Troop Support will finance the contracts using fiscal 2015 and 2016 defense working capital funds.

DoD’s Tricare program works to provide pharmacy benefits, dental care and other medical services for active-duty members, retirees and their families.
