Orbital ATK to Integrate Tech into Third Stage of ULA Solar Probe Rocket


Orbital ATKTYSONS CORNER, VA April 7, 2015 — Executive Mosaic — ExecutiveBiz reported Monday that Orbital ATK will use its navigation, avionics and propulsion subsystems to provide a launch boost to NASA’s planned Solar Probe Plus.

The company said Friday the technology will be integrated as the third stage motor of the United Launch Alliance Delta IV Heavy rocket that will launch the spacecraft.

It will deploy the latest evolution of the Star 48 rocket motor for the mission, which is scheduled to take off in 2018.
