Billy Moore is set to take over from retiring Russ Wieman as chief financial officer of Grant Thornton LLP.

Moore will come into the new role on Aug. 1 from his current post as professional standards partner for the firm’s offices in Charlotte, Raleigh and Columbia.

He brings with him 30-plus years of experience in leadership and operations, including planning and budgeting, financial reporting, debt and equity financing, auditing, and mergers and acquisitions, the company said Monday.

“He will be instrumental to the growth of the firm and will build on the momentum that Russ established during his tenure, during which Grant Thornton achieved the strongest financial condition in its history, ” said J. Michael McGuire, CEO of Grant Thornton.

Moore joined Grant Thornton in 2009 after spending 15 years in leading roles at Unifi, the Polymer Group and the International Textile Group and close to 19 years with Ernst & Young.

He is a certified public accountant and a graduate of the University of South Carolina.
