Lockheed Wins $4B US, UAE Defense Missile Order

lockheed martinLockheed Martin (NYSE: LMT) has won a $3, 920, 739, 507 contract modification from the U.S. Missile Defense Agency to produce missile defense equipment for the U.S. and to fulfill a foreign military sales agreement with the United Arab Emirates.

The U.S. will acquire 110 Terminal High Altitude Area Defense interceptor missiles and the UAE has ordered 192 of the weapons, the Defense Department said Friday.

The UAE is also purchasing 16 single missile round containers and 16 THAAD active leak sensor systems.

MDA is obligating $862, 410, 758 in fiscal year 2012 and 2013 procurement funds with $2, 705, 632, 696 in foreign military sales case funds at the time of award.

An additional fiscal year 2014 priced option for the U.S. government is worth up to $352, 696, 053 and must be exercised by Dec. 31, 2013, the Pentagon said.
