ATK Wins $81M For AF Rocket Motors; Lamberth Blalock Comments

ATK-logoATK (NYSE: ATK) has won a potential $81 million contract to dissect components and plug motors for a U.S. Air Force rocket launch program.

The contract includes one base year for ongoing aging surveillance for both Minuteman and Peacekeeper motors and up to four annual extension options, ATK said Wednesday.

If all options are exercised, the Rocket Systems Launch Program contract could extend to November 2017.

“This award expands our RSLP role to include Minuteman Stage II efforts for the first time, ” said Lamberth Blalock, vice president of Air Force programs for ATK’s aerospace group.

ATK has performed work for solid rocket motor propulsion work for the RSLP since 1997.

The Arlington, Va.-based aerospace firm will also test propellant properties, analyze potential hazards, dispose of motors and develop or test additional components if asked by the Air Force.
