Lockheed Martin Corp. (NYSE: LMT) won a $26, 197, 869 U.S. Air Force contract to modernize long-range radars used for tactical command and control.
The Defense Department said Lockheed will upgrade 29 AN/FPS-117 radars under an essential parts replacement program contract.
Lockheed won $46.8 million from the Air Force in November 2011 to complete engineering planning and upgrade a set of 29 radars.
Lockheed expected at the time of award to receive follow-on options to extend the radars through 2025 by replacing and updating signal and data processors.
Lockheed also won $30, 167, 558 in August 2011 to upgrade 29 of the radars and $16, 686, 712 in June 2011 to upgrade another set of 29.
