Sotera Defense Solutions has entered a definitive agreement to acquire Potomac Fusion Inc., the company announced Thursday.

Potomac Fusion develops information solutions for defense and intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance (ISR) systems that operate in cloud computing environments.

Those solutions include data analytics, cybersecurity and visualization.

Chantilly, Va.-based Potomac Fusion employs more than 200 workers and projects it will generate $40 million in revenue for calendar year 2011, the announcement said.

Sotera President and CEO John Hillen said the deal was motivated in part due to the company’s complementary portfolios, saying that Potomac Fusion’s “cloud computing architectures, data fusion and data analytics solutions will bolster the broad range of support we can provide to our customers operating on the front lines of cyber warfare, intelligence and tactical ISR.”
