L-3 Wins Potential $469M F-16 Training Support Contract

L-3 Communications‘ (NYSE: LLL) link simulation and training division has won a re-compete contract from the U.S. Air Force to provide pilot and maintenance training devices for the F-16 training system.

L-3 said in a release the contract has one initial year with options through 2019. The contract has a maximum value of $469.5 million if all options are exercised.

L-3 currently supports 183 F-16 pilot and maintenance trainers under an existing contract. The company said it oversees all F-16 training systems support for the U.S. Air Force worldwide.

L-3 will also continue operating a training center at Hill Air Force Base, Utah.

“The award of this contract, combined with our development and fielding of advanced F-16 mission training center simulation systems, will enable L-3 Link to provide the U.S. Air Force with consolidated and synergistic solutions that benefit the entire F-16 training community, ” said Leonard Genna, president of L-3’s link division.
