Northrop Grumman‘s (NYSE: NOC) electronic systems business‘ marine systems division has won a $23, 093, 493 U.S. Navy cost-plus-fixed-fee contract for research and development activities.
R&D efforts will support the design, manufacture and testing of an advanced hybrid drive system prototype.
The company said the system could bi-directionally interconnect existing propulsion and power generation systems on surface combatants.
Contract work is expected to be completed by April 2013. Contract funds of $5, 513, 000 will expire at the end of the current fiscal year.
The Naval Sea Systems Command, Washington D.C., is the contracting activity.
