SAIC (NYSE: SAI) has entered a definitive agreement to acquire healthcare IT services provider Vitalize Consulting Solutions for an undisclosed amount.
VCS implements and optimizes electronic health record systems from commercial-off-the-shelf vendors. It also provides strategic IT consulting.
SAIC will bolster its information integration and data analytics with VCS’ portfolio.
Approximately 600 VCS workers will join SAIC’s health solutions business unit.
“Acquiring VCS enables SAIC to increase its presence in the commercial and federal healthcare space by offering solutions that meet our customers’ critical needs, while offering the opportunity for cost reduction and improved patient care, ” said Joe Craver, president of SAIC’s health, energy and civil solutions group.
The acquisition is expected to close in August 2011, subject to customary closing conditions.
