General Dynamics NASSCO to Renovate and Modernize USS Harpers Ferry

The U.S. Navy has awarded General Dynamics (NYSE: GD), National Steel and Shipbuilding Co., San Diego, Calif., a $28, 841, 256 modification to a previously-awarded contract for the USS Harpers Ferry (LSD 49) fiscal 2011 extended docking phased maintenance availability.

General Dynamics will support an extensive renovation and modernization of the ship, including alterations and repairs. The company will also inspect and test all ships systems and components.

Contract funds in the amount of $28, 841, 256 will expire at the end of the current fiscal year.

Work will be performed in San Diego, Calif., and is expected to be completed by July 2012. The Southwest Regional Maintenance Center, San Diego, Calif., is the contracting activity.
