The Office of the National Coordinator for Health IT will award $4.9 million through contests and prizes to invest in health IT innovation.
Capital Consulting Corp. and Heath 2.0 will administer the funds by having competitions for systems and applications that help patients share health information within social networks and connect during natural disasters.
“The power of this initiative is tapping into American ingenuity, ” said Department of Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius.
