GTEC Changes Name to Sotera Defense Solutions

GTEC has announced a branding change that will see the firm become known as Sotera Defense Solutions.

Originating in Greek mythology, the word “Sotera” is derived from Soter the spirit of safety, preservation and deliverance from harm.

“We are very proud to unveil our new name and brand, Sotera, and we remain excited about the opportunities this announcement brings, ” CEO John Hillen said.  “With the backing of our new sponsor, Ares Management, we are in a great position to execute our long-term growth strategy to become the trusted mid-sized, mission-focused prime contractor for the national security community.  And, while our company name and logo may have changed, our passion for our customers’ missions remains the same.  We will continue to deliver the same mission-critical, innovative defense technology solutions our national security customers have come to rely on.”

The firm was recently acquired by private equity operation Ares Management for $315 million.

Lockheed Martin (NYSE: LMT) has been awarded a $709.8M contract modification by Naval Air Systems Command to obtain materials needed for the low-rate initial production of additional F-35 jets for U.S. and foreign military sales customers. The modification funds material purchases for lot 15 through lot 17 aircraft of the U.S. Air Force, Navy and Marine Corps as well as FMS and non-Department of Defense participants, DoD said Monday.
