Reggie Aggarwal, Cvent’s Rise (Back) to Success

Reggie Aggarwal

Event-management software specialist Cvent and its Founder and CEO Reggie Aggarwal’s rise from the ashes of the dot-com era was profiled by The Washington Post this week.

“It was the worst time of my life, ” Aggarwal told The Post about the firm’s precarious financial situation in 2002. “I didn’t know if the business was going to turn around. We were the walking dead.”

Eight years later, the firm is in an enviable position, especially in this economy, thanks to an employee-centric approach and attention to detail.

According to The Post, Cvent is now a $50 million-plus business with 675 employees and 94 straight months of profitability.

“We’ve come a long way since I was worrying about making payroll every month, ” Aggarwal told The Post, noting he would like to take the company public one day. “But being an entrepreneur is not glamorous. You have to take the high risks and make a lot of sacrifices.”
