BAE Systems Picks Up Deal to Make Army Vehicles Safer

BAE Systems has a $16.3 million contract in place with the Army to build 44 more vehicles that will defend warfighters from artillery attack.

The firm is set to make will appliqué kits and offer program support for the High Mobility Artillery Rocket System (HIMARS) as part of the deal struck in June 2010 worth $24 million for 63 HIMARS vehicles and appliqué kits.

The company will also deploy its Increased Crew Protection (ICP) cab to help soldiers fend off attacks.

“With our specialized ability to support the growing HIMARS fleet with greater mobility and survivability, BAE Systems continues to demonstrate a commitment to consistently provide our warfighters with enhanced protection on the most reliable medium tactical vehicles at the best value, ” said Chris Chambers, line lead for BAE Systems.
