Lockheed Set With Deal from Nuclear Regulatory Commission

Lockheed Martin (NYSE: LMT) claimed a 10-year, $77.4 million contract from the Nuclear Regulatory Commission to provide secure software tools to manage data on radioactive materials, including transactions involving radioactive materials, and the materials licensing process.

According to Lockheed Martin, “under the Integrated Source Management Portfolio (ISMP) Program, Lockheed Martin will provide the NRC Office of State and Federal Materials with a secure and effective set of automated tools to house and maintain information on licensees, nationally tracked sources possessed by licensees, and licensee transactions. The Portfolio consists of three systems, two that are in the planning stages the License Verification System (LVS) and the Web Based Licensing (WBL) System; and one system already in operation the National Source Tracking System (NSTS). Lockheed Martin will be responsible for development, deployment, hosting, user support and maintenance of this portfolio of systems.”

“The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission has the vital responsibility of ensuring the safe and secure civilian use of radioactive materials, ” said Frank Armijo, vice president of the Energy and Environment line of business in the Corporation’s Information Systems and Global Services business area. “Lockheed Martin is proud that our information technology systems and tools will help the NRC track nuclear materials and uses to ensure adequate protection of public health and safety, promote the common defense and security, and protect the environment.”
