General Dynamics Opens Data Center to Support DHS

General Dynamics Information Technology , a business unit of General Dynamics (NYSE: GD), has opened an enterprise IT services facility in Westminster, Colorado, in support of General Dynamics’ customer, the Department of Homeland Security’s U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) for the Technology Operations and Maintenance Infrastructure Support (TOMIS) program. General Dynamics was awarded the TOMIS program contract in 2007

This new operations center will be Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED)-certified.  When fully staffed, the facility will employ approximately 100 skilled IT workers including service desk agents, IT security specialists, network engineers, systems engineers and system administrators for DHS as well as other General Dynamics clients.

S. Daniel Johnson, president of General Dynamics Information Technology, said of the new facility“The mission of our customer is challenging and extremely important to the country.  As the agency within the Department of Homeland Security that is responsible for overseeing the legal immigration of people into the United States, USCIS is vital in maintaining a secure homeland.  The agency processes and verifies applications of those seeking to work and live in the United States, assists those seeking political or humanitarian asylum and manages applications of those seeking foreign adoptions. These functions require a secure, stable information technology infrastructure.”
