Neustar selected to provide registry and DNS services to support .green domain

Yesterday, the DotGreen Registery Corporation announced that it has selected Neustar, Inc. to provide the registry and Domain Name System (DNS) services required to support the .green global Top-Level Domain. The non-profit public benefit corporation based in California, it is preparing its application to the Internet Corporation of Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) to manage the new .green top-level domain (TLD) in 2010.

“Neustar is very pleased to be selected by the DotGreen Registry in its efforts to apply for, launch and operate the .green global Top-level Domain – and to be associated with an organization that is so committed to environmental and humanitarian causes, ” said Neustar Registry Services vice president Tim Switzer. “We are confident businesses, organizations and individuals around the world will want to use a .green web address to demonstrate their commitment to environmentalism.”

Conceived in 2007, .green was the first environmental TLD proposed to international environmental groups, and the DotGreen Registry Corporation remains the only announced non-profit public benefit corporation to seek such an environmental domain.
