A federal contract for $30 million was awarded to San Francisco based URS Group Inc., for architectural and engineering services. URS is a designer of aircraft hangars as well as various military facilities. In addition, the company also performs base realignment and closure programs.The contract will be executed at various locations including the firm’s Tampa site, who will prepare U.S. Navy and Marine Corps solicitation packages. Other worksites include various Navy and Marine Corps facilities and non-government facilities including locations in Kings Bay, Georgia; Guantanamo, Cuba; Andros Island in the Bahamas, and Puerto Rico according to a release by the DOD. The work is scheduled to be completed in August 2014.
URS successfully outbid 20 other proposals submitted to the Naval Facilities Engineering Command located in Jacksonville, FL.
