SAIC Lands $13 Million USDA Contract

Science Applications International Corporation has won a prime contract from the USDA’s Farm Service Agency (FSA) to provide software development and technical services support to the agency’s geographical information systems (GIS). If all four one-year options are exercised, the contract’s total value is more $13 million.

The FSA administers and manages farm commodity, credit, conservation, disaster and loan programs for farmers and ranchers,  designed to improve the economic stability of the agricultural industry and to help farmers adjust production to meet demand. FSA service centers use GIS applications to determine program eligibility and to aid automation, consistency, and efficiency of services.

Tony Moraco, SAIC senior vice president and business unit general manager said, “The integration of geospatial and business data is a key element in modernizing FSA’s business operations and farm program delivery.  We look forward to …help[ing] them work toward this important goal.”
