Thales to Buy Florida-based SATCOM Company
Thales Communications today announced it has signed an agreement to acquire satellite communications firm, Tampa Microwave.
The acquisition is conditional upon receiving certain regulatory approvals and is expected to close in the first quarter of 2012.
Tampa Microwave will operate as a subsidiary of Thales Communications, Inc., a Thales USA company operating under a proxy agreement with the Defense Department.
“The acquisition provides Thales with the capability to support DoD initiatives for wideband technology—voice, video, and data—at the tactical level,” said Michael Sheehan, president and CEO of Thales Communications.
Tampa Microwave will continue to operate at its Tampa, Fla. headquarters, with the current management team remaining unchanged.
