Stratolaunch Systems, a space transportation venture established by the late Microsoft (Nasdaq: MSFT) co-founder Paul Allen, now operates under an undisclosed entity following transition of ownership from Allens Seattle-based company Vulcan.
Stratolaunch said Friday it aims to launch reusable testbed vehicles through a carrier aircraft and provide related flight support to customers.
The company conducted the first flight of the 500K-pound Stratolaunch plane built in partnership with Northrop Grummans (NYSE: NOC) Scaled Composites business. The all-composite aircraft is designed to carry rockets and has been designated as the world’s largest plane.
