She will spearhead efforts at the center to bring in new talent to the national security space community and develop approaches to career development of the existing workforce, NSSA said Friday.
“I look forward to working closely with the U.S. Space Force, the National Reconnaissance Office, other Department of Defense and Intelligence Community organizations… to assure a well-educated and highly motivated national security space workforce for the 21st century,” Vaughn said.
Vaughn initially joined VOX Space’s parent organization, Virgin Orbit, in 2015. In her current capacity, she leads the El Segundo, California-based company to help the national security community launch small satellites bound for low-Earth orbit.
She also serves on the National Space Council’s user advisory group, which advises NSC on a broad range of aerospace topics such as the impacts of U.S. and international laws and regulations, national security space priorities relating to the civil and commercial space sectors.
