Tim Bock, Dell public alliance manager at Virtustream, has said government agencies should understand scale and know the differences between a government-purchased and a cloud-native application before moving apps to a cloud environment.
Bock wrote that agencies should establish a œcloud strategy that begins with understanding whether it is a consumer of apps or a provider of apps” in order to determine the kind of scale needed to deliver an œadequate level of support to citizens via the cloud.
Agencies should assess each application in order to determine whether such apps should be modified or be exempted from data center management operations, he noted.
He also called on agencies to look for a partner that would help align data center tools and procedures with the security framework as they work to migrate enterprise-level apps to the cloud.
Bock also cited the need to create œopen application programming interfaces that can be integrated with cloud management platforms in support of clients™ requirements.
