Vertex Aerospace Wins $97M Contract to Help Manage Air Force T-1A Trainer Fleet

Vertex Aerospace has won a one-year, $97.5M contract from the U.S. Air Force to manage and sustain the base supply of T-1A Jayhawk trainers for the Air Education and Training Command.

The company will support 178 T-1As stationed at air bases in Texas, Oklahoma and Mississippi as well as at Pensacola Naval Air Station in Florida through Nov. 30 of next year, the Defense Department said Friday.

The Air Force received three offers for firm-fixed-price contract and will obligate $48.3M in fiscal 2019 operations and maintenance funds at the time of award.

T-1A is a twin-engine, medium-range aircraft used to train undergraduate pilot trainees and military personnel in airlift flight and navigation.

Investment firm American Industrial Partners acquired Vertex Aerospace from L3 Technologies (NYSE: LLL) earlier this year in a $540 million cash deal.
