Mitre has secured a $474 million option contract to continue operating the U.S. Air Force-funded National Security Engineering Center, which conducts research work in cybersecurity and other technical areas.
The nonprofit will continue to manage the NSEC federally funded research and development center through Sept. 30, 2022, and will initially receive $59,157 on this sole-source, cost-reimbursement contract.
NSEC globally supports research and development projects pursued by the defense and intelligence communities. The center’s customers include the Joint Chiefs of the Staff and all U.S. armed service branches.
The center’s other focus areas are electronics, digital systems and information technology.
The Air Force Life Cycle Management Center in Massachusetts is the contracting activity and is using foreign military sales funds to cover the initial obligated funds.
