Unisys (NYSE: UIS) has established a fund that seeks to support research efforts focused on cybersecurity and other emerging technologies.
The company said Friday the Mark L. Cohn Research Fund will provide grants to researchers from nonprofit organizations, graduate and post-graduate programs to back projects that may benefit the industry and the government.
The charitable fund was named after Mark Cohn, a more than three-decade Unisys veteran who served as chief technology officer of the companys federal business until his passing on July 14.
Mark was a true patriot who dedicated his career to securing our country and its IT infrastructure, said PV Puvvada, president of Unisys Federal and a 2019 Wash100 winner. “By establishing this fund to support next-generation innovation in support of government as well as the private sector, we can extend his legacy into the future to address the nation’s evolving cybersecurity challenges.
The Professional Services Council Foundation helped establish the fund and will form an advisory board to help recommend research topics that could be funded through the initiative.
