ULA Gets $152M Contract for Rocket Launch Services to NRO Mission; Tory Bruno Quoted

Boeing (NYSE: BA) and Lockheed Martin‘s (NYSE: LMT) joint venture United Launch Alliance has received a potential $152.4M contract to produce a heavy rocket for the National Reconnaissance Office‘s Launch Mission One.

The Defense Department said Wednesday ULA will help the agency launch the mission with a heavy configuration of the Delta IV Evolved Expendable Launch Vehicle.

The U.S. Air Force‘s Space and Missile Systems Center is the contracting activity and the service branch will obligate the full contract amount at the time of award.

ULA will provide launch services under the firm-fixed-price contract at Cape Canaveral AF Station in Florida or at Vandenberg AF Base in California.

Tory Bruno, president and CEO of ULA, said in a statement released Thursday the company is honored for the selection of its Delta IV Heavy rocket to support the NRO’s national security mission.
