Textron announced its intent to buy Howe & Howe in October 2018 in a push to expand its autonomous technology offerings across land, air and maritime domains.
Lisa Atherton, president and CEO of Textron Systems, said she aims to bring investments to Howe & Howe to help the company further develop its existing products and begin work on new platforms.
According to the report, Howe & Howe proposed its RS2-H1 robot for the U.S. Army™s Squad Multipurpose Equipment Transport development contract.
Atherton told the publication she considers the SMET contract as one of the four programs she expects Textron to secure in 2019.
