The State Department has approved a potential $108.7 million foreign military sale of BAE Systems-builtradio frequency countermeasure systems and support services to Australia.
The deal covers the procurement of 1,952 ALE-70(V)/T-1687A Electronic Towed Decoy Countermeasures along with technical assistance, U.S. government and contractor engineering, program, technical and logistics support, the Defense Security Cooperation Agencysaid Thursday.
Australia will adopt the countermeasures to help increase the survivability of its F-35 fleet as well as the country’s capacity to deter global threats, support homeland defense and perform coalition defense programs.
DSCA does not expect the proposed sale to have significant impacts on basic regional military balance and on U.S. defense readiness.
