State Dept Clears $140M Raytheon Air-to-Air Missile Sales Deal for Canada

The State Department has approved a potential $140 million foreign military sale of Raytheon-built (NYSE: RTN) AIM-120D Advanced Medium Range Air-to-Air Missiles to Canada.

The proposed FMS transaction covers 32 AMRAAMs and associated equipment; storage and preservation; transportation; aircrew and maintenance training; and other logistics and program support services, the Defense Security Cooperation Agency said Wednesday.

DSCA noted the Canadian air force will use the AMRAAMs on its fighter aircraft to support missions of the North American Aerospace Defense and NATO.

The deal will also aid the U.S. Northern Command‘s efforts to facilitate air operations interoperability and standardization between U.S. and Canadian forces.

Canada will not require the deployment of additional U.S. government or contractor representatives to the country and will negotiate offset agreements related to the sale.
