State Dept Approves Iraq's $181M AC-208 Aircraft Logistics Request for Anti-IS Group Campaign

The State Department has approved Iraq’s request to acquire sustainment and logistics services and spare parts for its fleet of AC-208 aircraft under a $181 million foreign military sales agreement with the U.S.

The U.S. aims to help Iraq’s air force continue support of the international military campaign against the Islamic state group, the Defense Security Cooperation Agency said Tuesday.

Iraq sought a five-year sustainment package that includes operational, intermediate and depot-level maintenance, spare parts, component repair, publication updates, maintenance training and logistics support for the aircraft.

Orbital ATK (NYSE:OA) and Flight Safety International will serve as principal contractors for the sale that also covers contract logistics services, training services and contract engineering services.

Iraq aims to operate its U.S.-provided AC-208 light attack and intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance aircraft after an existing contractor logistics support agreement expires in June, DCSA said.
